All the best to you and family for a safe and memorable fall and halloween season.
The struggle continues and seems to be getting more challenging with our selective eater. He will not like or eat meat so chicken, bacon, turkey; hot dogs are all out of the question and he is allergic to nuts so that is another challenge. He wants nothing to do with cereals such as cheerios, frosted/corn flakes, cinnamon crunch etc. He now has found a love for fish so we have fish and tuna that we prepare for dinner and sometimes lunch. He will eat his fill of salads, all kinds of vegetables and fruits so I take advantage of every opportunity to give him his favorites.
Lately he has been even more selective and even his favorites are no longer options for him to eat. That had me a bit concerned so I consulted with his doctor and was told he is healthy and will probably grow out of it. Well in the meantime I am a bit concerned that he may not be getting enough protein and have been trying some fun recipes where I can ensure its packed with enough protein and other nutrients and tasty that he will eat.
I found a new favorite recipe by accident and now he is in love with the idea. I prepared an Acai bowl at home and he wanted to taste it and the rest is history. The difference with his bowl is that it does not have Acai included. It’s prepared with Silk Very Vanilla, blueberries, strawberries, kale, spinach, pineapples, sliced apples and half or a banana. I top it with blueberries and sliced bananas and he loves it and as far as he is concerned it’s an Acai Bowl. He gets everything in the bowl that would be challenging to give separately at a meal.
If he eats a waffle or bagel for breakfast then the bowl supplements for what he would be missing in other forms of protein. We use it also for dinner regardless of what he eats as a main course. The bowl is used as a dessert and puts my minds at ease knowing that he is getting an adequate serving of protein and other nutrients.
The story continues and I am ready for him to grow out of this phase and start eating or trying other foods. He doesn’t have to eat meat but it would be good for him to go easy on being so selective. Mommy would really appreciate the consideration.
All the best until next time!
Summer Safety Series: Part – 1
It’s suggested that families attend community fireworks displays run by professionals rather than using fireworks at home. Fireworks that are not handled correctly could cause fatal injuries.
Summer Safety Series: Part – 2
As you start the summer remember to review pool and water rule with your family. Some of the following are important to a safe and fun summer. Always have an adult monitoring kids in the water. Locate the lifeguard upon arrival and show them to your family. Walking and not running to the pool. Avoid using electronic equipment when you are at the pool and responsible for monitoring kids. Check out the link in my bio for more information.
Summer Safety Series: Part – 3
Playground Safety Tips:
Make sure children cannot reach any moving parts that might pinch or trap any body part. Parents should be mindful to supervise children on play equipment to make sure they are safe. Avoid using your phones while you are supervising your children. It only takes a second for something to happen. Remember to talk to your kids about stranger danger. Check out the link in my bio for more information.
Summer Safety Series: Part – 4
A helmet protects your child from serious injury, and should always be worn. When purchasing a helmet, look for a label or sticker that says the helmet meets the CPSC safety standards. Helmets are particularly important for preventing and minimizing head injuries. Arm and kneepads are always recommended for additional safety in minimizing scratches and injuries from falling. Check out the link in my bio for more information.
Summer Safety Series: Part – 5
Bug safety Tips:
Always avoid areas where insects nest or congregate, such as stagnant pools of water, uncovered foods and gardens where flowers are in bloom. Don’t use scented soaps, perfumes or hair sprays on your child if they are going outdoors.
Have a safe and happy summer!
Summer Safety Tips
As we move into our summer schedules and all the activities with our families and kids please remember to place safety at the top of our list. With 4th of July quickly approaching we should be prepared for all emergencies that could occur if we are around fireworks or if you choose to set of fireworks from home. It’s easy to overlook the dangers that may await because everyone is so wrapped up in the excitement of the fireworks and easily overlook hazards.

Have a great weekend!!!!!! It’s been one of those weeks!!!!
I got sick on Sunday after running my body into the ground over the weekend😢 🤧The challenge of being a GenMom with kids generations apart has its peaks and valleys❤️✨
Our daughter @satkinsongrier came home for a layover on her way to go to high jump competition in Jamaica and to be home for her brothers birthday🎂❤️ We celebrated our little Prince 5th birthday at Disney all while I was still sick but the show must go on🤧With being sick and birthday trip planning I missed scheduling some of his activities for the next few weeks and planning a project with San😢😰
Hope you had a productive and fun week. If you missed some of your targets know that the work never ends and move to the next day or week! .
Enjoy your weekend and welcome summer ☀️ 🌞 📸 by @satkinsongrier

Motherhood is not for the faint of heart or if you need sleep to survive. The journey to motherhood is easy for some and others walk through broken glass and lava to get there. Then you are blessed and you have nine months and some less of your body turning against you most of the time. All while you try to protect at all cost the little blessing you are carrying.
Upon their arrival your little blessing is everything you imagined and more. While the joys of motherhood can become overwhelming you have to remember that you are not perfect. There will be good days and sad days. There is never a moment of peace or rest and you try to keep your sanity. It seems never ending as they grow and challenge your every nerve, patience and sanity.
Having a 26 year old and a 4 year old has turned my world upside down. I have to say that I would not change a thing in my journey and if I had to do it al over again I would take the same path. Who needs sleep and sanity when you have the love and respect of your children. Blessed that I was chosen as the mother to my children.
Happy Mother’s Day!
All the best until next time.
I am always trying to find unique ideas for arts and crafts to do with RJ and have been coming up with some fun stuff to do for Easter and be economically responsible to not spend too much on the supplies. I went to one of the local Dollar Tree to pick up learning and arts supplies and was pleasantly surprised to see the huge selection is Easter baskets, eggs, colored grass, pre painted eggs, candy and other supplies to decorate or create Easter baskets.
They have there’s really cool square decorative baskets with bunnies and flowers, bunny ears, cloth like baskets that were sports themed ( football 🏈 , soccer ⚽️ and basketball 🏀 designs) and all for $1 each. I purposely checked out some of the items at WalMart and Target. The only closely priced item to $1 were some of the plastic baskets that were marked for $0.98 cents on price drop.

There is a large selection of decorations and signs the for lawns, front doors and just about everything else you could imagine. I had a successful trip and of course I left the store with more than I intended all while saving more than I would have if i had purchased from a large box store. I hope you have one of the stores in your area and have an opportunity to visit and check out their selections.
I absolutely love the “Teachers Corner”. You can find great learning resources for your little ones. Some of my favorite items in that section is the world map 🗺, K-5th grade core learning books for math, phonics and science. They have been great resources to help us prepare our son for Pre-K and Kindergarten next year. I saw the same items in larger retailers for $5.95 and above each.
All the best until next time.
I am an optimist and have always been that way. I always see the glass half full and have no place for negativity in my life or around my family. I do not surround myself with people who are negative and go out of my way to block it when it is in my space.
We live in a world where if we are not careful negativity can tarnish and overtake our every thought. If this is happening to us as adults imagine how our children are processing all of the information they may hear when they are away from us and encounter negative people who may try to dim their light towards greatness. We are very deliberate in how we speak to RJ, what and whom we expose him to that could affect him positively or negatively. We shower him with positive energy and love in every way possible everyday and make sure that he has the confidence to challange anyone who would suggest or tell him otherwise.
When RJ started Pre-K we realized that we had to develop the reinforcements he would need everyday to navigate the new environment away from home. We place notes of affirmation in his book bag, an the liner of his lunch bag, on his water bottle, tell him in the car on our way to school and have them in his room on the wall. There is not wavering in making sure that he will be a confident, motivated and emotionally healthy young man. He loves the moments when we talk about the affirmations and what they mean to him and to the people who love him.
Here are some of the affirmations that we send RJ off with everyday. We rotate them daily and weekly. Sometimes we ask RJ what affirmation he would like once I read them off to him and he selects.
Words of Affirmation
- You can accomplish anything you set out to do.
- Continue to always do your best.
- You always keep your promises.
- We love that you are curious.
- You are loved.
- You are very helpful.
- You are bold and courageous
- You are so kind.
- We are thankful to God for you.
- You respect others and we respect you.
- Love yourself as much as we love you.
- We can’t imagine our lives without you.
- You are getting stronger everyday.
- There is no one like you.
- You are amazing on the inside and out.
- You are getting smarter every day.
- We love that you always use kind words.
- We are so proud of you.
- You have been working hard and we are proud of you.
- You are very special to us.
We believe in pouring love and positive energy into everything that RJ does and everything he wants to become. We can see the positive affects it has on him and how he interacts with his classmates and anyone he is around. We have to start sowing seeds of positivity in our children early and reinforce at every opportunity.
Be well Until next time!
